My Lovely Bones is inspired by a Mexican tale “La Loba”, about a Wolf-Woman who collects the bones of desert animals so that they are not lost to the world. In the works of Laurence Le Constant, the preciousness of feathers echoes her personal genealogy, depicting her portraits of the women who created her. Each piece is unique and requires hundreds of hours of work. The rigorously selected feathers are glued one by one on a resin base. Halfway between raw funerary art and haute couture, the artist sculpts the feather as one would spin a cocoon. Incantatory gestures, a hypnotic technique, behind symbols which represent anxiety, she strives to ward off oblivion.
